I think I need to clarify something here. I did not mean to imply that there are no muscial acts currently writing anything worthwhile or meaningful,but more that there are very few that write songs that reflect the times we live in impactfully or with great substance such as people like Marley,Dylan,Lennon,and others. Those that do seem to get pushed aside by the Katy Perrys and Kelly Clarksons of the world.I think it is troubling that those bands go largely ignored by mainstream radio/media.

i love bob marley's music along with the others of that generation! However, I do think that there are some bands that write meaningful music....radiohead and tool are just a couple of bands that come into mind for me

"There is noone poised to take that throne,all that will be left is the rubbish thats passed off as music these days,very saddening." I'm a pretty harsh critic of music, and i love Marley. But there are plenty of good bands and musicians. There was 95% shit and 5% good music back then...its the same now. the only difference is that now music is mass broadcast, but mostly only the meaningless bad stuff.

For those who have a greater interest in Marley and want to know more about his life and what he was all about. I suggest you try to find "Catch a Fire" and give it a read. Great book chronicling his life,career,and his passion. $18.00 for the paperback most places,perhaps even cheaper. Well worth the money and time spent reading it.

Bob was otherworldly and sadly one of the last songwriters who penned songs that had relevant meaning in the words. A message. Hope. Truth. Peace. Betterment of the world through unity. Songsmen like that are gone forever. Dylan is the sole survivor,once he is gone musical genius ends. Future generations of the young will grow up with that huge void in music. There is noone poised to take that throne,all that will be left is the rubbish thats passed off as music these days,very saddening.
