...and those would all be examples of not practicing the belief of "Love Wins" and those would all be examples of completely violating what Christ stood for an using Him for one's own gain. You kinda proved the point... :)
ANDSWARE says January 8th, 2009 at 06:15:33
Stupid Christians. Such fuss over made up obtuse relegions. And if love did win then we would have been deprived of manifest destiny, the crusades, the inquisition, Salem witch trials, Waco Texas and the Halle Bop Comet incident...Thank you Jesus!
Stamford says January 8th, 2009 at 06:38:32
This speech is so amazing!! not only did it prompt me to take on the concept of love wins myself but it also lead me to Rob Bell (who I think we can all agree is pretty dang awesome)
Anyways thanks so much for this speech and I pray it can continue to inspire people
God Bless

Hey Issac>>>while it is obvious that you dont agree with the concept, and that is perfectly fine...i would like to remind you of one very important fact...no one said ANYWHERE...in tis speech or in the concept of Love Wins that people dont need to be judged...in fact a direct quote from Rob that I used was "don't misunderstand...there is still a need for justice...people are still responsible for their actions." The point is, respond in love. Discipline in love. Punish in love. No free passes
Ora says January 8th, 2009 at 07:24:30
Oh - and one more thing. Yes. He put Jesus in the context of the rest - because they accomplished some similar achievements. Did Martin Luther King die for the sins of mankind? No - but he did die for an incredible cause. Just because a man is not Jesus does not mean he is not worthy of recognition as a great man. Use some logic and reason before making such statements. That is why g-d gave us that ability.
Clifland says January 8th, 2009 at 07:47:29
And -why- does the bible say that? Because of the rational understatement that human beings hold intrinsic worth in and of themselves. There is logic to the statement beyond 'because the bible says so', which is irrational in and of itself. And I say this as a passionate follower of Christ. And yes, g-d is in control of the universe. But we still have the capacity to decide what is sensible. We have control over our own intellect and rationality. Thrisha says January 8th, 2009 at 08:10:28
He puts Jesus in the same category as the rest: NONSENSE!They did not overcome the world,JESUS did! He was not on a mission to do right,He came to save you and I!God created and it is still under the control of the universe, not us.We do not love others because they are human beings;we do because the bible says so.Next non sense is that people don't need to be judged but loved. Before you say the bible says we are not supposed to, read John 7:24. "love wins" is nothing but a cliché.lacks substance
Nicolas says January 8th, 2009 at 08:33:27
'A bunch of nonsense'? Isn't 'sense' what we make of it as humanity? Is a world where love does not win the one you want to live in? The 'sense' in which we live is your choice - your and ours as humanity. If people choose it to be nonsense, then it will be. If we choose it to be senseful, than it will be that as well. Is the world in which you want to live one where it is nonsense?

you are the man for writing back...
HAMILTON says January 8th, 2009 at 09:42:24
actually the first quarter of it came from chapter 9 of To Kill A Mockingbird. I heard Rob's message while I was teaching TKAMB and it was amazing how it blended right in. So when it came time to write this speech I started with that and with what I had spoken to my kids, and then absolutely borrowed from Rob (and I give him credit in the comments of the speech). It is so cool to be part of a powerful idea that has existed for so long and is SO true.
D'or says January 8th, 2009 at 10:05:23
Good stuff. With Rob you can't go wrong!
Atepa says January 8th, 2009 at 10:28:22
sounds exactly like Rob Bell's sermon... almost at times word for word. But his sermon "love wins" was one of the greatest sermons of all time. Obviously this guy agreed too.

2 Tim 4:3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Great speech! I found it ironic that the American flag was waving in the background. Love wins...does the flag support that idea?
AXEL says January 8th, 2009 at 12:23:17

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Mostafa says January 8th, 2009 at 13:09:15
Will you marry me?
Really though, this is a tremendous speech. I hope they'll all choose to be a part of this puzzle of a revolution. I hope your words will resonate within them for years to come.
Synne says January 8th, 2009 at 13:32:14
A simple concept but profound impact. Thank you Lane, thank you Rob, but most of all, thank you Jesus, Gandhi, Mother Theresa,...
Audrey says January 8th, 2009 at 13:55:13
the absolute, most amazing speech ever! normally i can hardly stand to sit through a kitsch graduation speech, but yours had so much more meaning. i had never thought of love as a modern day revolution and i'm so happy to be a part of it. thank you so much for posting this incredible speech!
Daina says January 8th, 2009 at 14:18:12
There is some serious depth in that speech! I hope it didn't fall on deaf ears.
