Just as single thread runs through all the flowers in a garland, the same divine power exists in all the god forms. Understand this unity in diversity. One who has understood this unity will never be put to suffering. Develop faith in God. Do not get carried away by what others say. Follow the dictates of your conscience. If you have the strong desire to see God, contemplate on Him with unflinching faith. Then you can certainly see Him. Never doubt His existence. He exists for those who believe in His existence and does not exist for those who deny His existence. He acts according to your feelings. So, develop faith in Him. Chanting the Gayatri Mantra for three times in a day, i.e., morning, afternoon and evening, is not enough. You should chant this Mantra incessantly. Why should you stipulate a particular time period for chanting His name who is beyond time? Sarvada Sarvakaleshu Sarvathra Harichinthanam, chant His name at all places, at all times and under all circumstances. I would advise to recite the Gayatri when you take your bath. Do not sing cheap and defiling film songs; recite the Gayatri. When you bathe, the body is being cleansed; let your mind and intellect also be cleansed. Make it a point to repeat it when you bathe as well as before every meal, when you wake from sleep, and when you go to bed. And also repeat 'shanti' thrice at the end, for that repetition will give shanti or peace to three entities in you -- body, mind and soul. Sathya Sai Baba This Gayathri Mantra was taught by Vishwamitra; that we know. But do you know what Baba has to say about this? On that day, the Gayathri Mantra was gifted to mankind: Rama and Lakshmana were the instruments for our receiving that teaching. As Rama was Divine, Vishwamitra certainly knew that Rama knew everything, and therefore already knew this mantra. So then, why did Vishwamitra teach it to Him? The goal of teaching the Gayathri to Rama was to ensure that the whole world would come to know it. The situation was only an opportunity to benefit all of us by gifting the Gayathri Mantra to all of us through this teaching by Vishwamitra to Rama. So what does Baba say about this? By gifting this Gayathri Mantra to the entire humanity, Vishwamitra has endeared himself. Humanity is highly indebted to that sage, to Vishwamitra. Swami says that therefore his very name is justified: Vishwa means the entire universe and mitra is friend. Through this act, he earned his name as Vishwamitra. He is friend to the universe; he is a friend of all. The Gayathri, therefore, was gifted to the entire humanity through his act of teaching it to Rama. What a beautiful explanation this is!

Vakratunda Mahakaaya Suryakoti Samaprabha Nirvighnam Kuru Mey Deva Sarva Kaaryeshu Sarvada Meaning:The Lord with the curved trunk and a mighty body, who has the luster of a million suns, I pray to thee Oh Lord, to remove the obstacles from all the actions I intend to perform. Asatoma is the shanti-mantra. The mantra for inner peace. In short it means: From untruth lead me to Truth, from darkness lead me to Light, from death lead me to Immortality. Sai Baba says about this prayer: Even for being blessed by the Lord's Grace, one must have Shanti (Inner Peace) and await patiently. Serenity alone succeeds in bringing about the result of Sadhana. Add this lesson to the practices you are engaged in, night and day, and to the Shanti Manthra. "Asatho maa sadgamaya; thamaso maa jyothirgamaya; mrityor maa amritham gamaya," This is the Shantimanthra. The meaning of this mantra is given variously by various people, some elaborately, some succulently. "O, Lord, when I am deriving happiness through the objects of this world, make me forget the unreal objects and show me the way to permanent happiness," this is the first prayer. "O Lord, when the objects of the World attract me, remove the darkness which hides the all-pervading Atma, which every such object really is." This is the second prayer. "O Lord, bless me through Your Grace with Immortality or Paramananda, resulting from the awareness of the Effulgence of the Atma, immanent in every object." This is the third prayer. This is the real meaning of the Mantra. Also: From this transient world of decay, lead me to the everlasting world of Bliss; Give me the effulgence of Thy Grace and illumine my soul with truth; Save me from the torture of birth and death, destroy the cravings of the mind which produce the seeds of birth. There is nothing more everlasting than the life of truthfulness, the fact as being revealed! People feel that adhering to truth is difficult. Actually, it is untruth that creates difficult problems. All kinds of plans have to be made to cover up a lie. But to stick to the facts, as they are, is easy. People should come to realise that it is easy to be good. It is going astray that causes difficulties. One cannot always avoid committing a mistake, but one should learn a lesson from it and avoid repeating it. Love is the foremost quality of a human being. And faith is the basis for that love. The spelling of the world love is LOVE. Here 'L' stands for 'Lord'. Thus, Love is born out of the Lord (God). The entire creation is a manifestation of God's love, be it a tiny ant or a mighty elephant. Everything is the creation of God. Not even a blade of grass will move without divine Will, People who do not realise this truth get carried away by their pride of intelligence and discrimination. But no one, however great they may be, knows what lies ahead for them in future. (Telugu poem) How did this blade of grass come into existence? It is nothing but God's Will! Similarly, every human being is born out of divine Will only. There can be no creation without God. When you look at the earth during summer it looks parched. But, with the onset of rainy season, the earth looks green with various plants. From where did they come? From the rain. The rain came from the clouds. The clouds are caused by the sun. And, the sun itself originated from God. Thus, the entire creation has its origin in God. There can be no air, sun, rain or plants without God. Knowing this truth, we still tend to forget God. On the other hand, we remember everything else. This is not correct. Never forget God. If you forget God, it amounts to forgetting everything. For God is the source and cause for everything. Unfortunately, today, we are forgetting the fundamentals or root cause for the entire Universe. God is only one, now and forever. Not realising this truth, you are wasting your precious time thinking that all that you see in this objective world is true. No! None of these objects is real. Truth is eternal, beyond the three periods of time —past, present, and future. That is Divinity. All that you see in this objective world and all the relationships between individuals are only temporary. They are never real and permanent. But Divinity is not like that. Divinity is what it is —yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It is Divinity always! Not reposing your faith in such a true and eternal God, you are deluded into thinking that what you see in this objective world is true. Hence, first and foremost, try to recognise the eternal truth. Only when you have recognised the Truth are you deemed to have recognised everything else. All others are only transitory. Sathya Sai Baba

Neither sacred formulae nor sacred places. Neither Vedas nor yajnas (rituals). I am neither the eaten nor the eater nor the act of eating; I am the ever blissful One, One without a second, Truth, Goodness and Beauty. I am THAT. The title, "Sathyam Shivam Sundaram" is full of meaning. It speaks of Me as immanent in every one of you, remember. Sathyam (Truth) is the basic reality of you all; that is why you resent being called a liar. The real "you" is innocent; he will not accept an imputation that is false. The real "you" is Shivam--joy, happiness, auspiciousness---but not shavam (corpse). It is Shubham (beautiful), Nithyam (permanent), Aanandham (bliss). How then can you bear being called otherwise? The real "you" is Beauty, and so you resent being called ugly. The aathma has got entangled in the body which it does not like; it is weighed down by shame when you identify it with the body and attribute to it the weaknesses and deficiencies of that physical vehicle. Sathya Sai Baba Suppose you are asked: "Who created all this multiplicity in the world; who is responsible for all this variety?" What will you answer?... The correct response is, "There is no multiplicity at all!"... The one divine self remains the one self forever. You mistake it as many. The fault is in you. Correct your vision. Remove your delusion. The divinity did not change into the world just as the rope did not change into a snake. In the dark you mistook the rope to be a snake but it remains a rope. So also, the divine self remains the divine self though your ignorance of this fact makes you see it as world... The world of diversity stands on one leg called delusion. Cut down that leg and the world falls... I often tell you not to identify even me with this particular body. You do not understand. You call me by only one name and believe I have only one form, but there is no name I do not bear and there is no form which is not mine. After long searches here and there in temples and in churches, at last you come back completing the circle from where you started, and find that he for whom you have been seeking all over the world, for whom you have been weeping and praying in churches and temples, on whom you were looking as the mystery of all mysteries, is the nearest of the near... your very self... the reality of your life, body and soul. Assert it! Manifest it! You as body, mind or soul are a dream. But what you really are is pure existence, knowledge, bliss. You are the God of this universe. You are creating this whole universe and drawing it in. To gain the Infinite, the miserable little prison individuality must go.... Follow the heart. A pure heart seeks beyond the intellect. It gets inspired.... Within you is the real happiness. Within you is the mighty ocean of nectar divine. Seek it within you. Feel it. Feel it. It is here, the self. It is not the body, the mind, the intellect. All these are simply manifestations. Above all these you are. You appear as the smiling flower, as the twinkling stars. Sathya Sai Baba One who is engaged in the battle of life needs the armour of spirituality. With this invincible armour he can face any situation. If instead of donning this spiritual armour, he cloaks himself in ignorance, he will be haunted by fear and anxiety. As long as rice is covered by husk it cannot be consumed. Likewise, man cannot experience true bliss until he gets rid of the cloak of ignorance. Man must hence develop the quality of forbearance. Through forbearance and spiritual practices, gradually the shackles of tendencies resulting from past actions can be broken. Sathya Sai Baba People imagine that spirituality means meditating on God, bathing in sacred waters and visiting holy shrines, but this is not the correct meaning of spirituality. Spirituality means destroying the animal nature in man and awakening him to his divine consciousness. Spirituality implies recognizing that one's manifold capacities emanate from the Spirit and not from the mind, then utilizing them for achieving spiritual strength. It means acknowledging that all powers come from the Divine. Sathya Sai Baba Do not give room for differences based on language, religion, caste or nationality. Develop the feeling that all are children of God. You may worship God in any form of your choice, but always bear in mind that God is one.
